CS 223 Digital Design

Number systems, data representation and codes. Boolean algebra, canonical forms, logic gates, minimization of logic circuits. Analysis and design of combinational circuits, verification. Decoders, encoders, multiplexers, programmable logic, combinational functional implementation. Aritmetic functions and circuits. Flip-flops, sequential circuit analysis and design. Registers, counters, register transfer and microoperations. Algorithmic state machines, sequencing and hardwired control. Memory technology, SRAM and DRAM. Basic computer organization and design. Representing digital circuits with hardware description language. Credit units: 4 ECTS Credit units: 8.
