POLS 454 Politics Media and Propaganda

This course deals with propaganda and the construction of news in the context of political life. Particular emphasis is given to prejudice and bias and reinforcing of ethnic, religious and national steotypes. Propaganda is studied as a tool of social control both formally and informally. The course will concentrate on the 19th century but there will be references back to earlier forms of propaganda.
