HIST 354 Comparative Perspectives on Museum and Archives History and Practice

This course examines the development of museum and archives in the United States, the Ottoman Empire and the Republic of Turkey. It focuses on the historical background of these agencies and on issues relating to their management and mission. The course is open to students from Bilkent and Cate Western Reserve University in Cleveland Ohio. The Bilkent stuednts will participate via a live interactive broadcast of the lecture from Case Western. Turkish and American students will work in pairs by internet on course projects. Provided grant funding is secured a mutual ``site visit'' from Cleveland to Ankara from Ankara to Cleveland will be offered at the end of the semester. Credit units: 3 ECTS Credit units: None.
